Fundamentals of nautical interior design, spatial ergonomics and technical conditions of the marine environment

  • Principles of interior design applied to boats: habitability, functionality, aesthetic identity and adaptation to nautical use
  • Typologies of boats and their influence on interior design: yachts, sailboats, catamarans, ferries, cruise ships and professional units
  • Ergonomics and use of space on board: circulation, accessibility, comfort and optimisation of reduced volumes
  • Conditioners of the marine environment: humidity, salinity, vibration, movement, weight and safety requirements indoors
  • Relationship between interior design, naval architecture and general distribution of the ship: compatibility between shape, structure and use
02

Functional distribution, habitable zones and interior spatial planning in recreational boats and professional use

  • Functional organisation of the interior space: cabins, living rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, government posts and technical areas
  • Internal zoning according to navigation profile and type of boat: daytime, night, charter, long stay or technical service
  • Design of routes, accesses and transitions between spaces: Fluency, security and functional hierarchy on board
  • Integration between interiors and decks: visual continuity, interior-exterior relationship and use of views and natural light
  • Fixed and modular furniture planning: storage, multi-functionality and adaptation to the ship's movement
03

Materials, coatings, finishes and construction solutions for high technical and aesthetic demands

  • Selection of materials suitable for marine environment: technical woods, composites, laminates, nautical textiles, metals and synthetic surfaces
  • Interior coatings and decorative solutions: paneling, pavements, ceilings, upholstery and finishes resistant to moisture and wear
  • Compatibility between aesthetics, weight and durability: criteria of choice of materials according to performance, maintenance and style
  • Furniture fixing, assembly and stability solutions in dynamic environment: anchors, fasteners, joints and safety of use
  • Protective treatments, surface finishes and resistance to fire, abrasion and internal corrosion
04

Lighting, colour, ambient comfort and sensory design of interior spaces in boats

  • Nautical interior lighting design: general light, punctual, ambient and functional according to space and experience of use
  • Use of natural light: portillos, skylights, openings and strategies to expand spatial perception
  • Colour psychology and chromatic composition in nautical environments: visual breadth, aesthetic identity and emotional comfort
  • Thermal, acoustic and visual comfort on board: insulation, ventilation, air conditioning and control of interior noise
  • Sensory design and user experience: textures, materials, atmosphere and perception of luxury, well-being or technical functionality
05

Capstone Project for Nautical Interior Design with Conceptual Development, Technical Resolution and Professional Presentation
