Protecting the oceans and managing maritime resources efficiently are priorities. All our programmes include training in sustainable practices and marine renewable energy.
We encourage collaboration with universities, companies, and maritime organisations worldwide, strengthening knowledge networks and global opportunities.
We train professionals who can lead teams, manage operations, and make strategic decisions in an international, multicultural context.
Navalis Magna Institute
Our mission
Navalis Magna Institute (NMI), founded in 1990, has a mission to provide internationally excellent higher education across all disciplines related to the sea and navigation. Since its beginnings, the institute has pursued the integration of rigorous academic knowledge, professional experience, and global reach, with the aim of training leaders capable of tackling the complex challenges of the global maritime industry and port logistics.
NMI develops undergraduate, master’s, and diploma programmes that meet the highest global standards. Our curricula are accredited to be recognised across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Oceania, and are continually updated in line with the needs of the maritime industry and trends in technological innovation.
NMI students have access to advanced simulation laboratories, naval engineering workshops, placements at international ports, and mentoring programmes with leaders from shipping companies and shipyards. From the first year, we encourage immersion in real-world environments to ensure our graduates not only understand theory, but also apply real solutions in global settings.
NMI drives applied research, the development of maritime start-ups, and the creation of sustainable technologies. We have naval innovation and marine energy laboratories, incubators for strategic projects, and collaborations with leading companies so that our students can take part in the sector’s technological transformation.
The institute trains leaders who combine strategic vision, professional ethics, and social responsibility—capable of managing fleets, ports, and international projects, always committed to maritime safety and the sustainability of the oceans.
NMI has agreements with universities, maritime institutions, and companies in more than 30 countries. This allows our students to take part in exchange programmes, international placements, and collaborative projects that build a global network of alumni who are influential in the naval industry.
